Horizontal stab/fin post interference

Post by moose2b » Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:08 pm

Hello!

Heard third hand of another possible fix. Could a builder just shim the stab
forward .080 or so to alleviate the interference? Those of you who have the
fuse completed probably can eyeball this one for feasibility.

Thanks,

Terry Riedel

Horizontal stab/fin post interference

Terry, I had warned the factory that others out there, that are not
reporting an interference problem, may have bolted the stab on in front of
the pairs of attach brackets on the fuselage (which would move the assembly
forward about the 1/4" required!!) and then just threw a shim in to take up
the space on the fus brackets. I suggested a "WARNING" bulletin, as this
would put the 4 attach bolts in singular shear (and not double shear as was
the intended set up with the stabs fitting nested in between each pair of
fus fittings), so DON'T do it.

Thanks Wayne, I kind of figured that the "fix" seemed too obvious! It did seem
like a sweet solution if it worked though!!
