Hi Rebel 505, Whoever you are, bobp is right, I too have heard some strange
noises from people that dealt with NSI. In any case also do not install an
81 in your aircraft. Just not enough power. I have been running a 2.2
liter(130 hp) in my Rebel and it runs fine (bobp knows, he ferried my
machine from Atlanta area to here, Southern New Hampshire). I hear noises
that you are going on floats? In that case even a 2.2 liter is really not
enough, you have to go to a 2.5 (165 hp). Talk to Eggenfellner if you want
to retain the nice computer set-up, he puts out a great set-up firewall
forward using the 2.5 liter, but instead of paying him up front simply put
your money in escrow at a bank near him, to be paid out, when you receive a
shipping bill and/or receive the complete engine set-up. I have never heard
anything bad about Dave Bangle. He does however not use the Subaru computer
set-up (goes to carburation) and Eggenfellner uses a very good geared prop
reduction unit, self contained and very light but Heavy Duty (Bangle uses
belts). I myself need more hp and would sell you my whole set-up firewall
forward, at considerable savings in money and time and I would do something
with Eggenfellner, but that is no good, again, if you are going on floats.
Hope this is some help to you. Then there are the Crossflow people near
Toronto, but have not heard much from or about them lately. Best regards,
Geert Frank #083R

I can say I never bought a thing from Dave Bangle, But the man was always
willing to help with an answer or suggestion with my 2.2 installation. I
don't think his 2.2's are running the stock 130 HP. Probably 30-40 HP more.
He uses an AIRFLOW fuel injection instead of a carb. It's a real nice setup.
The belt reduction drive Dave makes is a nice unit also. Nothing wrong with
belts, They run 300+ HP drag bikes with less belt and the trany or top end
goes before the belt. Belt redrives usually weigh less are easier to inspect
and cheaper to fix. Mr. Eggenfellner Puts out a very nice total package, He's
a heck of a machinist and a straight up fellow. Crossflow out of Canada Puts
together a nice Subaru package also and are rebuttable. Stratus I've never
talked to and don't know of anyone personally that has so no comment. But
I've
heard quite a few people that have said some not so flattering things about
NSI. I MUST agree with Bob that it's kinda shady. Get as much info you can
from people that have been there and done it. There's a lot of pro's & con's
with an auto conversion. Best of luck ether way.

One REALLY good feature of Dave's setup is that the whole
Subaru installation fits right onto the Murphy standard mounts
for the Lycoming engine. If you ever want to change to a Lyc.,
all you have to do is bolt it on !!!

Thanks for the offer but I think if I'm going to do it I may as well do it
