Your right there Bruce! It is a safety feature to insure both tanks are
vented if some bugs clog one sides vent up (if you are using two vent tubes)
, but the most important thing it does is to equalize the pressure in both
tanks to get EVEN fuel flow from both tanks, when you are cranking and
banking!

Fuel Caps
OK. After all the great discussion, here's my new plan. Cross fitting to
give me a three way tee at each upper sight tube fitting, right at the wing
root. Inverted J fittings, with the slight mod that Bob P. mentions to get
the tube opening pointed more into the wind. Then a cross tube between the
fittings to connect the tanks together.
