Fuel Caps

Mike,

I believe the intent in cross venting was to get even fuel flow, even in the
event one vent may get plugged.

Fuel Caps

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:47 pm

Your right there Bruce! It is a safety feature to insure both tanks are
vented if some bugs clog one sides vent up (if you are using two vent tubes)
, but the most important thing it does is to equalize the pressure in both
tanks to get EVEN fuel flow from both tanks, when you are cranking and
banking!

Wayne G. O'Shea

Fuel Caps

Post by AGT » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:47 pm

OK. After all the great discussion, here's my new plan. Cross fitting to
give me a three way tee at each upper sight tube fitting, right at the wing
root. Inverted J fittings, with the slight mod that Bob P. mentions to get
the tube opening pointed more into the wind. Then a cross tube between the
fittings to connect the tanks together.

Hi Mike !

Sounds good !! Might be a good idea to do as Wayne suggests,
and drill a 1/16" or so hole on the back of the front 'up' part of
the "J", to let water escape out the back instead of pushing into the tank...
(and don't forget a bit of window screen in the front bottom to keep
the bugs out ;-) )
