[rebel-builders] Bingelis book recommendation?

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:30 am

Ben,

Although I'd highly recommend both, the FWF may be more relevant to
actual building.

Firewall Forward
Bingelis on Engines
Anyone recommend one over the other?
Thanks,

Ben:
Those books are a great source of information. The Firewall Forward would be
the best, I believe, but you should also get the Sportplane Builder, and
Sportplane Construction. If you can only afford one, get the Sportplane
Builder. And drop hints for Christmas for the other two. I do not have
Bingelis on Engines, so I can't say much about it. But the other three are
almost required reading.

[rebel-builders] Bingelis book recommendation?

I have all 4 books and recommend them all although tony on engines is
mostly a rehash of firewall forward. In firewall forward he mostly uses
continental engines for examples and in tony on engines he uses his
lycoming instalation in an rv6 as the example. If you're only going to get
one book I think firewall forward is the better choice.

If you are an EAA member they usually have a
discounted price if you buy the set. Seems to me it
was around $70.00 for the set of four.

Thanks all for the recommendation, will start with Firewall Forward. BTW,
ACS is $20 each, $70 for the set of 4 (EAA or not). EAA.org is $25 each,
80 for 4.

[rebel-builders] Bingelis book recommendation?

Post by Mike Davis » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:30 am

Just thought I'd mention that I have started rebuilding the builders site
book store. Still some work to do, but since I work on this primarily when
I'm not otherwise busy at work it might take a while. ;-) Anyway, and
purchases made here will help support the builders list.

http://astore.amazon.com/rebelbuilderslis

I will also get a link added to the archive site to incorporate it right
into the site.

Mike
