Thanks Ralph,
I have the Vernatherm from my old filter head. According to B&C if you use
Champion filters .....108 or ....109 they have a built in bypass and also a
drainback valve that allows the filter to be spun off with out it draining
on the ground. I guess it will remain to be seen.

the Elite. You will need the Vernatherm as well. Drip free oil changing
is done by breaking the filter loose to hand tight. Then slip a plastic
bag over the filter and adapter while it is removed, catching the oil in
the bag.

I use a 108 on Howard's and where it may very well have a bypass valve in it
you can sure pour the oil out of it. I'd hate to see the mess if it was
upside down at time of removal.

I understood their means of no mess was to poke a hole in the bottom of the
filter and then let it drain for a couple hours before removing.

You can poke a hole in the filter with an awl, and what 15 minutes while the engine cools off, before removing it.

Great..........I like the mess you get when oil runs down the back of the
engine around all those little cracks and crevices and then onto the cowl. I
think you got something there with the hole in it thing.
