Hey, Steve, can't argue about anything the way you've built your plane. It
is still the fastest Rebel that I know both on wheels and amphibs, and with
just 125 hp.
Had a beautiful day here in today, and just got back from some nice flying
on my Rebel out to Harrison.
Will this be the year, Steve, we get you to come across the border into
Canada?

Bob & Wayne
Thank's for both of your reply's. My AULA Rebel kit was supplied in early
1996 without the aft floor. Now with over six years of flying on the
airframe, four of them on amphib floats the airframe still looks like new
with no crack's or creases.
I do make every effort not to abuse or push the structural limits, however
it has seen many hard off airport/rough dirt strips when it was on wheels
and rough water take off & landings that would make a beaver pilot cringe.
I have the battery, ELt and the hyd power pack mounted in the aft part of
the tail cone, and for maintenance I have a removeable plywood bench that
fits over the fuselage frames and spreads part of the load on to the bottom
skins.
In closeing, it has been stated that the aft floor does not weigh much,
however on my airframe it would have
increased the empty weight about 2 1/2 percent. That's equal to 3 plus gal
of fuel or a good portion of the aircraft electrical system or my survival
kit.

It's not supplied by MAM Steve (with AULA's anyhow) and it's not necessary
in any of them! The Rebel I shipped to Maui had a 118Hp Lyco in it and no
rear floor with no ill effects. I keep contending the upper Cabin to cone
corner wraps are the weak point of compression when on wheels and
considering what I have returned to a flying airplane from bits and pieces
(from both wheels and float aircraft) I'm sticking to it. In total wrecks
I've not seen an issue of where the inner floor, or lack there of, was a
blessing or a hindrance.

What should we be looking for ( Damage ? ) on the Rebels without the aft
floor. It was my understanding that the aft floor was not supplied with
the
Ultralight kit.

Hi Jean !
ABSOLUTELY !!! It makes a box beam out of the lower fuselage,
and greatly increases strength !
The rear floor has been standard since the beginning - somehow,
a rumour started that it was optional, and unnecessary - NOT TRUE !!
There are a couple of Rebels flying without it - a close look will
show the errors in that choice !
