Float attach brackets

Post by mbetti » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:43 am

I know the Elite instructions are a little different than the Rebel in this area. The instructions tell you to connect the top of the added bulkhead used for sandwiching the attach bracket to bulkhead A. This would form some what of a triangle in this area. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Mike Betti

Float attach brackets

Post by N.Smith » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:43 am

Hi Mike

I've tied my extra bulkheads to the original at the top using the 9 rivets
at the overlap on each side. A covering strip is then added to the flanges
down to the floor to form a box section - again as stated in the manual.

The attach bracket itself is sandwiched and riveted (not bolted) using the
larger rivets as in the manual.

Float attach brackets

Post by Alan Hepburn » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:43 am

Mike:

Another thing is to make sure the holes in the bracket that protrude from
the fuselage are as far from the fuselage skin as possible. That is, the
bracket is sandwiched about as close as it can get to the outer skin. Also,
when you rivet the bulkheads to the corner wraps, make sure they are dead
flat - not warped forward at all. Otherwise, the nut on the float attach
bracket can touch the fuselage skin. At least it can with the brackets
Montana supply. I'm not sure about the Murphy ones.
