hi all
guess this question is really for Wayne since i think he posted the pics of
the rod end spaces.
i think i see you put small spacers above and below the rod end, is this to
allow the rod end to twist full without bottoming out on the bell crank or
penny wash above, by doing this the rod ends stop twisting on their threads
in the control tube, i assume this is only done at the bell crank end since
the other end of this control rod is inside the main control tube, is this
correct Wayne, if so do you recall the length of the spacers required

Hi Mike !
You're right - the small spacers (cut-down washers, or tube
pieces) stop the rod-end from hitting the larger penny washers,
which would cause the whole thing to turn on the threads.
The spacers are usually added on the control column end,
where they are visible, although putting them on the other end
as well wouldn't hurt.

A much better solution (though it costs a few bucks) is to use the ACS rod
end swivel bearing (Part No 05-01021). You also need an HF-4 bearing to go

Poor choice of words on my part and incorrect. What my brain was trying to
say is to set them so the maximum amount of rotational travel is available
at each end so you dont have one rod end bind in one direction and the other
bind in the opposite direction.

3/16" to a 1/4" x 5/6" stainless brake line. It lets the rod end rotate that
extra bit needed so you can lock nut both ends of the push pull. Don't
bother playing with this until you have set your up and down stops for the
elevator.
