New to the group ...

Post by Bob Andrews » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:05 am

Greetings,

Want to introduce myself to the group, and say thanks for making your
archives available for reading. Plan to trailer my recently purchased Elite
home to Libby this weekend. The Elite was ground looped after 42 hrs (just
into Phase II) having only been on the spring gear ... so have some repair
work to do. Plan to install 2200 amphibs right away. Will know the extent
of needed repairs once we start peeling it open in the upcoming weeks.
During the repair phase, I want to incorporate as many Elite related mods as
possible - elevator horns, etc. Its great to know you're out there.

Bet I can send you some pictures of just what the square tubes look
like........ Did the legs tear out?? Have lots of pics that can help you and
willing to share since you're way over there!

Takes some work...but the square carrythroughs and FUS-2 gussets can be
removed in one piece and then replaced with new in one piece..then the lower
outer floor all replaced...without removing the door posts.

Good luck with the Elite and acquisition

Cheers,
Wayne

One other thought as well......If you do indeed need to tear out the
carrythoughs and if the cabin floor is buckled behind them...no reason you
couldn't leave the tabs on the FUS-2's...add the wishbone tubes....add a set
of rear attach fittings at the approriate distance back and switch her over
to some Rebel style "bungee" gear! Guess there's no reason everyone couldn't
do this building an Elite either!

Cheers,

Plan to put it directly on the 2200 amphibs ... but that's not to say that
it will always be on floats. At this point think only the right spring gear
survived unscathed ... but not sure. Configuring for bungee gear may well
be a feasable way to go ... will put that dominio in the stack ... :-)
Thanks, Bob.

Hi Al ... great to hear from you ... and thanks ... and Libby is treating us
great !! ... good to be back in the north country again (for me anyway) ...
we all like it here a lot. I'm at the airport (MFC) most every day, and of
course there's coffee at the Amish store at 10am when I can. I stopped
asking Shaun (12 yr old son) if he's ready to move back to Maryland ... said
he was getting real tired of saying NO !! Libby could use some more snow
though ... a bit warm out there ... snowmobiles are spending way too much
time on the trailer for January. This Elite is as close as I can get to
yours for now ... so, with your permission of course, I'll happily settle
for being your lil' brother. By the way ... have you pushed "the button"
yet? (Shaun keeps asking me about it) Bob.
