Super Rebel For Sale

Post by Dave Qualley » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:02 pm

Rachael and I have decided that we are going to sell the plane.. =(

I'm 5 years into the project now, and at my current rate I'll be a
couple more.. I really miss flying, which was my goal in the first
place.. The plan is to sell the project as-is, buy a 172 and get back
into the air.. The plane is about 70-80% complete..

I would consider selling the engine separately if anyone is interested.
It's an O-540-E4C5, 260hp.. I also have the Murphy engine mount. The
engine has been rebuilt, 0 time, by Ken Vike in Kelowna. Email me if
you want more info, or some photos..

I'm also selling my hangar at the Pitt Meadows Airport. I've bought a
newer, larger hangar next to the float base on the other side of the
airport..

See: http://www3.telus.net/dqualley/sr2500 for more info on the
plane.

See: http://www3.telus.net/dqualley/hangar13 for more info on the
hangar.

A big thanks to everyone who has helped me along over the last 5 years!!

I plan to keep following this list, keep up to date on everyones
progress, and hope to someday have the time and money to get back into a
Murphy..

Gee, Dave - sorry to see you giving up, so close to the end.

You should have no trouble finding a buyer, but couldn't you
just rent, or buy a share in a 172 for a year or 2 ??? Guess it
would stretch the building time, but you would be flying again !
OR - take on a partner to finish the building while you're flying ??

I'm sure you've agonized over all the choices - best of luck,
whichever way it goes !! Hope you can join us on a Ramble, whatever
you are flying ! ;-) :-)

Walter Klatt

Super Rebel For Sale

Post by Walter Klatt » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:02 pm

Dave, I know the feeling. It took me 7 years to build
my Rebel. The biggest mistake I made was selling my
previous plane 2 years into the project. I didn't have
anything to fly of my own during that time and it drove
me nuts. However, I do remember Curt and others saying
that it is all worth it in the end, and that turned out
to be more true than I could have imagined. I am
extremely happy with what I have right now.

I'm sure you've thought it all out, but Bob's
suggestion is a good one. That is one hell of a great
airplane that you're giving up, and you might really be
kicking yourself in a couple of years.

Walter

Super Rebel For Sale

Post by Keith Leitch » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:02 pm

I've got the opposite problem. I was recently thinking of selling my 172
that I have had for over 15 years. I don't have the time to fly it and take
care of all my other projects. By the looks of the pictures, you have done a
great job on the SR.
Good luck,

Hi Keith !

Before you sell that 172, would you consider renting a
50 hour block of time to someone to fly on the Rebel Ramble ?? !! ;-)
