Now I have ascertained I will be woefully short of the 6403 ?? tank
rivets. I received 1700 of them; I think this does not relate to the 120
gal tanks I also got. I don't know yet what Murphy will say when I call
them.
I'm interested in another source for "Avex" rivets. Is "Avex" a brand,
type, or what? Where else can I get what we need/want?
Does anyone have any thoughts re: adding a fuel vent to the outermost
bay of the 120 gal system? I would drill the upper front corner of the
W-173 rib at the outermost bay and then plumb it out the bottom of the wing
ala Cessna?

avex/fuel tanks
avex/fuel tanks
6403 are closed stem rivets not Avex.
Avex is a type of rivet made by textron. Fairly unique in that they are
especially good at expanding radially to fill the hole. see
www.avdeltextron.ca for the Canadian site. There should be links to the
American site. Best prices for both types of rivet is to order them
direct. However if you were shorted rivets (or anything at all) MAM is
usually very good at making up the shortage. I can look up the textron
part numbers if you need them or they are on the textron site and in the
archives.
There are lots of discussions on venting ideas in the archives. I think
there are pros and cons to the cesna method as well.

avex/fuel tanks
I just checked my inventory sheet and I have the following entries for "tank
rivets"...
6403 - 1700
6403 - 80
6404 - 800
6405 - 100
6405 - 250
I have the 120 gal tanks, but I also bought extra access panels and doubles to
put an access panel in each bay of the tanks, so I'm sure I will neec to buy
more rivets for those.
As for the fuel vent, I really like the way MAM has the demonstrator set up
now. They simply drilled a hole in the outboard/forward corner of the tank
(right behind the main spar), put a fitting in it, and screwed a L shaped tube
into it facing forward for ram air. Very simple, no plumbing to worry about,
and if it gets bent or damaged, very easy to fix.

avex/fuel tanks
Avex is a trade name owned by Textron
(http://www.avdelcherrytextron.com/avex.html). The quoted page gives
the size
& material codes and at the bottom you will find links for distributors.
One caution, do not get "equivalent" far east sourced replacements from
Rivets
Unlimited, MAM used these for a while and eventually they had a falling
out
over quality. Our experience showed they did not pull evenly and
frequently
left part of the mandrel proud when they set.
Hope this gets you toward your goals!
