Does anyone happen to know what time the alternate engine seminar starts
tomorrow in Kitchener, Ontario ???
For an on topic question - does anyone have a Rebel window latch
arrangement that they are pleased with? It would be nice to have
something that can be opened from outside and inside, and that latches
the window in two places.

Kitchener alternate engine seminar
FWIW, I went with the MAM stock window and latch setup and am satisfied with
how mine works. If I was doing it over, I would add another key lock to the
passenger side, same as on the pilot side, and move the single latch about 2
inches towards the front. Back when I was on wheels, and I cruised a little
faster, the front of the window would open just slightly (1/16 inch?), but
not enough to cause a problem. On floats they stay nice and tight shut. I
know a lot of people didn't like this set-up, but quite happy with mine.
It's like the MAM tail wheel, everyone seems to think it needs to be
changed. Again, I was very happy with mine, and it steered just fine, and
the kick-out piece worked well, too, just as long as the chains and
everything were adjusted right.

For the upper window I developed a two catch latch mechanism that is
openable from the inside and outside. The two latches are connected with a 1/4
dia. aluminum tube. The actuator is located in the forward upper corners and
this is also where the key lock is. The lower door is also a two latch
mechanism and works with a handle but is only openable from the inside. I could
have added the same handle mechanism but then I would have had a handle in the
middle of the door. It really works great but was an awful lot of work. I will
try to post some pictures of it in the next couple of weeks.

solutions and may start cutting metal as soon as tomorrow. From Walter
and Wayne's comments it sounds like one latch works better than I
thought but I'd prefer two. From a safety perspective I'd like to be
able to open the window from outside even when latched from inside.

Kitchener alternate engine seminar
There is another consideration with one latch over two that was important to
me. Because mine is a float plane, I want a door that will open quickly and
easily in an emergency egress situation. In a worse case panic scenario, I
believe my doors will open with a kick or good push. I have heard of too
many tragedies where people drowned in planes because they couldn't get the
doors open. And one latch seems to hold my door and window just fine.
