What have you been using to seal the tank inspection covers?
I noticed in the email that Ken posted that there is a sealant with less
adhesion for putting on the tank inspection covers.
Has anyone used it?
Has anyone taken one off that used regular sealant?
Thanks,
Scott

Tank inspection covers
Tank inspection covers
Scott,
I used a pink low adhesion proseal (or something equivalent made by
Flamemaster if memory serves me)on our SR tank inspection covers. This saved
my bacon when I had to get into the tank to reverse a couple of flap hinge
bolts as the covers came off without tearing up any aluminum. I can check on
the proseal part # if you'd like.
Also, for anyone interested, I have a set of Montana Straight floats on order
to be installed this winter/spring. I'll keep the list updated on progress.

Tank inspection covers
This may be a little late Scott, but here goes. What have you been using to seal the tank inspection covers?
Thanks,
Scott

Randy and I cut lexan ovals to fit just as the aluminum covers to the tank
access holes do. The lexan (without the rivet holes drilled) covers all the
rivet holes in the doubler ring. We proceeded to put a bead of silicone
chaulk around the surface of the doubler ring. We then carefully placed the
lexan oval into position over the hole followed by the actual aluminum
cover. Six rivets were installed to hold both the outer aluminum and the
inner lexan in place. This seals the lexan over the ring of rivet holes and
pushes excess silicone out around the cover perimeter forming a seal. This
method worked very well for us. We had one cover in eight that needed a bit
of additional silicone upon pressurization
