Some of the structural failures mentioned caught my attention until I
realized they were not in fact Murphy Rebels. Guess there are some
errors in the database.

Wayne G. O'Shea

AOPA Accident Database

Me too! I was ready to print it out when I read carbon fiber spar caps on a
Rebel 300 (maybe the builder's name was Murphy). Lots of people we know in
there though like the Coghlin's '93 flight to Osh, Keith, Al, Charles's
buddies taking his Rebel through the trees in Alaska and the unfortunate
crash of the SR2500 into a irrigation stand pipe in California, etc.

The one that I read with MUCH interest was a Rebel that experienced elevator
push pull failure at the bellcrank. He climbed to higher altitude and bailed
out (presume he had a chute!). Read it again and I believe this was a Low
wing Rebel 300 as well.

Cheers,
Wayne

I remember that happening, it was, I believe an aerobatic Rebel 300, they
were using the threaded swivel type rod end at 90degrees to the angle it
should have been used at! (i.e. push, pull type load)
Not surprisingly it snapped off!
Unbelievable!

Cheers
