I am getting into the installation of the FUS-30 doubler. I was looking at the
related photos in the files area, but I cannot tell if the rivet pattern is
carried along the bottom in the area of the fuselage centerline. Due to the
thickness of the doubler material, and the curvature, it appears this is an
area where rivets would help pull the mating surfaces together. It also seems,
to my inexperienced eye, that it may be a high stress area, so I don't want to
drill without some experienced advice first.
Any help would be appreciated.

Rebel-FUS 30 Tail Wrap Doubler
Rebel-FUS 30 Tail Wrap Doubler
Roger, I only put 3 rivets under there, on the forward edge in front of the
tail spring bolt, just to hold the edge down (up) flush. The spring bolt
does a good enough job of holding the rest tightly together. Can send you
some more detailed pics, if you want, as George's rebuild is down to the
final reassembly in the hanger and I rebuilt this area on his as (was the
older original .025 FUS-30 and) was very deformed.

Rebel-FUS 30 Tail Wrap Doubler
Wayne,
Yes, I would appreciate any/all photos. If I understand your post, all 3 rivets
are along the leading edge?
Do you see any specific problem if I elected to add rivets along the bottom,
aft of the spring bolt? I guess I'm just concerned about getting a void between
the skin and doubler during the install. The spring bolt is not installed yet
and I can only get a spring clamp on the aft end of the skin/doubler at this
point.

Rebel-FUS 30 Tail Wrap Doubler
Could probably "pop" a couple RV1613's in behind the bolt, on the center
line, evenly spaced between the bolt and the upper spring retainer plate
area. I wouldn't bother, but if you are concerned do what you think you
should.
As for the 3 rivets, yes along the "leading edge" as you say. One in the
center and one to each side of it. I will take some shots this afternoon,
after I am done my quick lunch/computer time here and post to you tonight.
