Rebel Progress

Just a progress report. I finally have positioned and drilled the seat
rails. What a great feeling to sit inside and make engine noises. Next is
making some access plates and running the elevator cables.

Hello Scott

Although I'v put my cable guides in place we're at the same stage. I used 7
guides on each side for the rudder and 14 down the middle for the elevator
cables. May seem like overkill but I wanted to take as much slop out of the
cables as possible.

Good luck, lets keep at it.

Murray, did you find that you had too much binding with the 14 guides? More
is better unless the extra friction is too noticable. I live in Vancouver, WA
(near Portland, OR).

Hi Scott:

The 14 guides up the centre,7 for each cable.
If installed according to the manual I felt they would rub. There is a high
point at bulkhead F so I put one at the high point. The manual also shows
one about 18" in front of the pulleys at the end of the floor. I felt that
the cables would sag here and rub on the floor so I put one just in front of
the pulleys. The first guide aft of the control column results in quite a
change of direction so I put this 1st guide a little further back. The rest
of the guides hold the cable up in the event of a little slack in the cable.
This I hope will allow me to not make the cable so tight. The longer the
distance between guides the tighter the cable has to be to prevent a
sagging cable rubbing the floor. I don't think there is any more friction
with more guides as they are all straight with no side friction.

Good luck
