Hello
I'm making the windows. The manual says to drill to # 30 and rivet with 1410's. Should the lexan holes be oversized, drilled to 3/16 before riveting as suggested in the preamble to working with lexan.
Just a yes or no from someone please.
I thank you in advance,

Suffered a "Brain Fart" on that one. Should have said I always drill up to 5/32nd and not the declared 9/64ths!!! Guess it's time for bed!

Never gone to that extreme (ie:3/16) for an 1/8" rivet, but you MUST always open up by at least a drill size or two after final fitting (or it will crack within a short period of time). I usually drill everything to fit as an assembly at #30 and then disassemble and updrill the lexan (against a wood backing) to 9/64ths. I assume you are also using an aluminum doubler (if doing the rear windows/skylights) so the lexan gets sandwiched between the two pieces of aluminum, so the rivet is not expanding into the lexan.
Cheers,

3/16 holes should work just fine. Our doors are completely lexan and all
drilled to 3/16. Same with our four skylights. The only thing to make sure
and remember is to use a metal doubler on the other side of the rivet.
Small washers seemed to work the best for us. Have Fun!! Brian

Here's a new thought for you.
WE used rivnuts with #8-32 screws, on the sides,
and on the bottom of the fiberglass mold,
that way you can take the windshield off a lot
easier, if or when you ever need too.
