Hello everyone, just found this web site last nite. I was up until 0230
reading all the old files!! Sure am happy to be here! I'm working on SR 3500
kit #171, got started last June, made good progress for a month and a half,
then got slowed to a standstill when my son (child #3) was born. The house has
been kind of nuts for a while :).
Anyway, now I'm getting back at it. Is there anyone else on the list who is
building the Moose from the start? I have to admit that I have a tough time
trying to figure out where various upgrade steps go when trying to incorporate
them during the initial build.
I'm looking forward to participating, hope you folks don't mind a lot of
beginning questions!

Welcome to the list Terry... I will also be building a Moose from the start,
but I don't get my kit for another 3 months. And if it doesn't stop snowing
here in Fairbanks soon, I may not have my shop done by the time I get it!

Hi Terry,
Welcome aboard! Your like me. When I found the list server I stayed up all night and read the archives too. I felt like I was a bee without a hive, and then I found the hive and all the other bee's. It's a good feeling. Now all the fun starts.

Terry,
Welcome to the list and congratulations on the new addition to the family.
I am building SR140 (slow build as compared to quick build). I upgraded to
the 3500# before I got very far along, so I have not had to do very much
retrofit - mostly incorporating the new parts as I go along.
I'll do my best to answer any questions that you might have; however, there
are a lot of builders on this list that are a much better qualified than I.
How far along are you?
Cheers, rj

Hi RJ,
Hate to admit how slowly the construction is coming, but I'm roughly half way
through the elevator build. Just getting ready to rivet on the bottom half of
the skin. Now I'm waiting to find out about the potential for elevator/fin
post interference. I'd rather fix it now, if possible, than redo everything
later.
My horizontal stab is half done too, as I managed to crease/tear the leading
edge of the skin when I picked it up the wrong way late one night. :( Oh
well, the experimental category IS supposed to be educational right? I've got
the new skin, so I'll probably go back to working on the stab while I wait on
the elevator question.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for getting and keeping this list going!! Send some of the snow down
here to Utah - we are projected to be in a fairly severe drought this summer.
(Besides, snow = no grass to mow = more time to work on the plane!!)
Are you going to get the QB option on the entire plane or just the wings? I
decided on the 120 gallon tanks as well, I like the flexibility of trading
payload for fuel and vice versa.

Hi Terry,
No quick build at all... gonna build mine the old fashioned way! Besides,
I'll need the 5 years it takes to build it to save enough money for the

Newest builder on the block (list?)
Hi Terry,
No, I'm not flying the Rebel yet. I'm painting at this time and hope to have first flight in June. I'm not worried about liking the plane. I've only flown the factory Elite put have never heard a bad word from a flying Rebel builder in the 1 1/2 years I'v e been building. I have an earlier Rebel because I bought the kit second hand from Ken Hazlet who bought it in December 1993.
