Hi Guys
Can anyone put me on the track to identify a Lycoming IO-360-B4A?
I am looking to find out what it is (said to be 180 HP, 8.5:1 comp, 2700
RPM) and things like is it a "good" or "bad" engine, are there any
things to watch out for like faults or ADs? Is it Dynafocal or Conical.
Any & all info is appreciated.
Thanks
Dave R.

Lycoming Engine Question
Lycoming Engine Question
I Dave,
I looked this engine up in "Lycoming SSP-397 Publication on Certificated
Engines"
and this is what it said.
IO-360-B4A, 180 HP, 2700 RPM, 100/100LL, 8.50.1, Dynafocal mounts,
Bendix fuel injection, S4LN-21 (impulse coupling) and S4LN-magnetos and an
O-360-A4A solid crankshaft. The engine S/N suffix -15.
As far as any plus or minus with this engine... I have no clue, but at least
armed with this information you have a start. I hope that helps.

Lycoming Engine Question
Dave,
According to the Lycoming Certificated Engine List,
www.prime-mover.org/Engines/Lycoming.Lyc-Cert-list.html, The IO-360-B4A is
similar to the -B1B but has S4LN-21 (impulse coupling) and S4LN-20 magnetos
and O-360-A4A solid crankshaft. The IO-360-B1B is the same as the -B1A
except for Bendix Fuel Injection System. The B1A is the same as the A1D
etc. etc. Did not see any mention about type of mounts.

Lycoming Engine Question
Lonnie & Bruce
So far this is about what I have been able to learn about this engine although
Grant @ MAM thought he also saw a helocopter ref there somewhere also. I am
going to have to get in contact with Lycoming to get a dimensional comparison
to the type MAM sells & says will fit before I will know more.
Thanks
