Aeroflash flash tubes

Post by Mike Kimball » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:47 pm

Due to the fact that they are almost 1/2 price for the Aeroflash wing
strobe/nav combos over the Whelen I would like to go with Aeroflash of
course. My only question is how hard is it to get an Aeroflash flash tube
if it burns out? What if I'm on a trip? Do FBOs carry them? Does
Aeroflash use an off the shelf flash tube? Maybe the same one as the
Whelen? Same question for the nav lights. Common bulbs?

I'm pulling the high voltage wires out of my wings intended for the fuselage
mounted strobe power supply and replacing them with 16 gauge standard
aircraft wire to run 12V to wing tip mounted strobe power supplies. I want
to run my electrical from the wings down the rear door post next to my fuel
lines and I would just feel better with only 12V nearby. Plus, there should
be a reduction in radio interference with the wing tip power supplies.

Aeroflash flash tubes

Mike, never met an AME that had a Whelen strobe bulb in stock at $160Cdn
either!! SO no big deal. You can go on line at www.aeroflash.com (also a
link from my site if you lose this address!) to get the part numbers and a
fax number to send your order to. Just make up some letter head from Mikes
Aircraft Service, Alaska and fax it off with the stuff you need and a credit
card number/expiry date and name on card. They will ship it all out and
cheaper/quicker than through ACS or similar. And no they are not the same
shape strobe bulb as a Whelen. The Nav bulbs are basically the same though.

Cheers,
