G'day
I wish to make some form of tie down points on the outboard wing attach points.
I had thought of substituting a stainless steel ring bolt for one of the wing attach bolts.
Has anyone done something similar?
Any other ideas?

Ian, that is the norm! Replacing usually the 2nd bolt down with an eyebolt. What I have done with mine and Howard's, to retain full strength, is to use a grade 5 bolt and a female threaded stainless "D" ring. They are available through fastener supply outfits and are shaped like a stretched D (well actually more like a tear drop with the point cut off to form a short flat side for the threaded area!)
Now back to fixing my furnace! 50* in the house this A.M. and I'm not talking celcius like an Australian winter!

MAM sells one that is a stainless ring welded to a threaded rod. Price
was reasonable but it might be nice to have a larger ring. The forged
one that Wayne mentioned is probably stronger.

And being a "tear drop" shape the eye is long enough to stick out through
the strut fairing (aluminum one) and still have enough area to get the rope
through without using any spacers under the ring!
