Rebel Rudder angles ?

Just HOW much rudder angle is "normal" and HOW much is preferred ?

Not quite sure how exactly to obtain more angle either !?!

I have an old copy of the Rebel FAQ that says the rudder should move 8
inches left and 8 inches right of center. That pre-dated the use of
rudder stops I believe and maybe even the change to the longer rudder
horn. MAM has never put a restriction on the movement to my knowledge
but the new manual does now show using the vertical bolts as rudder
stops. It seems silly to use rudder stops that restrict it to way less
than what the elevators allow.

Hi

I agree with you Ken. I simply set the rudder stops to allow the maximum
movement i.e. up to the point where they would hit the elevator in the worst
case situation - I think full down. You have to watch for that. I have
seen several installations with the tell tale marks of interference between
elevator & rudder. When the rudder is at zero deflection - no interference.
But when the elevator goes up or down, it can then interfer.
