Just a note to the wise after reading lots of postings about using MEK.

Be careful.

MEK is a known carcinogen, and is a "hazardous chemical". It will penetrate
latex type gloves, so be more careful. Its fumes are also dangerous so be
yet more careful.
You need to be in good health to keep flying and the twist that comes with
MEK is that, it smells good! But it's still bad....

And if splashed in you eyes takes about 10 seconds to cause PERMANENT
damage, so why is anyone using the stuff??? Acetone works great for
cleaning, etc. Probably not great stuff to get in your eyes, etc, either,
but much safer than MEK!!

Also causes PERMANENT eye damage if splashed in your eyes, within SECONDS, if not IMMEDIATELY flushed from them! And how many of you have running water (that you can find with your eyes shut) in your shop?????? WHY DOES ANYONE USE, or promote the use of, THIS NASTY STUFF? I guess if you have to use it, make sure you have put on a set of rubber goggles (snorkel mask might be a safe idea as has no vent holes), a pair of rubber gloves and have all the doors open in the shop/hanger (or a fresh air hood will lick 2 of 3 items) before you even open the can!

Take Bruces warning about MEK (methel-ethel-keytone). The first MSDS (material safety data sheet) I read said it hasn't been clinically proven BUT is believed to cause irreversible nerve damage if breathed or absorbed. That was from DuPont Inc.
