This is the first time I have sent a message to this group. Thanks to Bruce
Georgen for the info about this site.

Congrats to B&O Johnson (Rebel 652 Flies). It's really exciting to hear
about a first flight in a new airplane!

As for myself, I am making slow progress on Elite 709. I recently riveted
the ribs and spars of the horiz stab together and have laid the skin on the
workbench for the next step. I tell people that I'm 3% done, but I can't
say 90% to go. No problems so far, but I am taking plenty of time. Are
there any problem areas on the Elite tailfeathers?

I haven't been happy with the standard method of deburring holes with a
drill bit that is larger than the hole. Even with a sharp bit, it tends to
chatter. A better way is the Handi-Burr tool made by Cogsdill Enterprises
of Walled Lake, Michigan. It makes a very small chamfer and completely
removes the burr. Best of all, it can deburr both sides of the work from a
single entry.

The down side of the Handi-Burr is its price, and each size hole requires a
different size of Handi-Burr. I bought the 1/8-inch size from McMaster-Carr
(www.mcmaster.com, part #4262A31, US$48.93). It is also available from
Aircraft Tool Supply (www.aircraft-tool.com, part #TD002, US$57.95). Since
McMaster-Carr is only 15 minutes from home, the choice was easy. As with
other tools, practice on a piece of scrap before you use it on good metal.
The instructions say to use it in an electric drill or drill press, but I
found that it works better by hand in thin sheet metal.

AirVenture? You were going to purchase a Rebel or Elite. Well, I guess you
