throttle cables

Post by Aurele Lavigne » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:16 pm

Wayne O., Bob P. or anyone have the specs on the throttle cables and choke for the 912 Rebel, ei: part number, lenght, diameter etc., and any possible suppliers. I didn't see this any of my manuals.

Also, I'm having a hard time finding a local supplier (in Canada) that carries the NGK plug for the 912S or in myu case, 912 Extra piston kit, number DCPR8E.

Mine are due to be changed as housing are cracked in a few locations.

Thanks, Aurele

Aurele, I don't know what you have for sure on yours, but they are usually just brake cables for a 10 speed bike!!!! There are different diameters of cable and cases available, so borrow someone's vernier or micrometer and measure the cable diameter. Then head to the CTC across the street and check out the bicycle section of the store.

My Father-in-law had trouble getting the DCPR8E plugs, even from the guy he bought the 912 XTRA pistons from. Have a feeling he is just running the original 912 plugs (7E's I believe).

Hi Aurele !

You should be able to order the throttle & choke cables from
Murphy. For the plugs, you might try NAPA Auto Parts, or any automotive
jobber - they will likely have to be a 'special order' of at least one
full box (10 plugs). That's what I did ....

throttle cables

Post by Aurele Lavigne » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:16 pm

Wayne, thanks for the info on the cables, I did take a look at the bike stuff at CTC and will measure the diameter as you indicated to try and match. What should I measure, the cable itself or the housing, or both?

As for the plugs, I did manage to get them from Calafornia Precision ..., but it cost me dearly for shipping and then I found out Rotech in B.C. has them for about $5.92 each.

Need to measure both as the case needs to match the cable if buying seperately. Seeing it's the case that is worn in your case, just measure the internal cable to match what you have and buy a complete assemble (cable/case) to match your current size.
