Hi Brian !
The International Party is one of Oshkosh's best kept secrets !
It is only for visitors from other countries - like far-away Canada ! ;-)
We only discovered it after several years of Oskoshing, and now we
never miss it. The Murphy gang, and the RAA execs. are always there, too !
It's a great place to meet homebuilders from all around the world -
the language of flying is universal, as is the music & dancing ! :-)
You go to the International Tent (near the Tower), and register
for your country. They give you a visitor name tag, which gets you in,
and directions to the party. It is always held in the Nature Park,
just a short walk out the road leading from beside the tower. There is an
International parade, usually Friday morning, as well, and all visitors
are invited march in it.
We show up at the Nature Park about 6:30 pm, and they have
something like a tanker truck with beer spiggots on the side, and
cases of wine. The meal is Bratwurst on a bun, and chips, as well
as cheese & crackers appetizers. There is a DJ for dancing, and
a good time is always had !!! All of this is free, being paid for
by donations at the International tent, and the sponsors, as far
as I know. They now turf us out about 9:30 or 10 pm. In the bad old days,
they had a live band and MC, and the partying went on until after midnight.
I think the first year the Aussies and Germans came to Osh and met the
Canadians was the end of the <really> good times - we partied until
they evicted us at midnight, then went downtown !!!
(The next year, things were really scaled down ....)
I'm guessing that the International Party will still be on
Friday night, where it moved to several years ago.... Anybody
know for sure ???

Thanks for putting this together Don !
Unfortunately, Friday night is the International Party, (unless
it has been moved), and we Canucks will do ANYTHING for FREE beer and
food ! Our highlights always were International Party on Friday,
and Murphy Party on Saturday. (Can't say for sure, but the Murphy
crowd are ALWAYS regulars at International Party, so it will be
a VERY tough choice - don't wait for us .....)
ANY night other than the International Party, and we'll be
there !!! The chicken sounded good ....

To bad MAM could not find a place to hold the builders dinner.
Oshkosh does have a way of getting booked up.
Some thoughts on using the Seabase:
Friday night the food concession at the base provides a very nice fish
dinner. I could reserve enough picnic table space under the big tent so
that
we could all sit together.
After a leisurely dinner and hanger flying/building those of the group who
felt like a wild night could stick around for Kareoke. Last year it was a
big hit. Alicia Rae is a local singer and is very talented. The equipment
is
professional. Last year after the crowd got over some initial stage fright
the night got into full swing and everyone had a blast.
The watermelon Social Half Chicken Barbecue is a great event but there are
3-500 people in attendance with all the associated "chaos". It is fun but
may not be the best setting for a builders dinner.
I cast my vote for Friday. With the food vendor at the base cooking the
fish
dinner for the general public our number doesn't matter we could have a
dinner with 2 to 22 or more. I just need to have an Ideal of how many to
reserve the tables and stock up on some additional beverages.
We could post a notice at the Murphy Tent for those who may not be on the
list.
Who's in.
I will forward to MAM.

Events Schedule at the base
If there is interest, we could pick an afternoon or evening and get
together.
The following are Evening Events we could work ourselves around or into.
Tuesday: Happy Hour around the fire.
Wednesday: Welcome Campers Night
Thursday: Live True Blue Wisconsin Polka Music.
Friday: Fish Dinner, followed by Kareoke Night featuring Alicia
Rae.
Saturday: Watermelon Social Chicken Barbecue
Sunday: Ice Cream Sunday Night
