tire tubes

Post by klehman » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:02 pm

Bruce

I believe Wal Mart is the supplier of choice for the imported bent stem
tubes if you are using the 600 tires but as you have already seen the
quality of these tubes seems to be less than stellar...

I had a problem with one of my original tubes but I think it was because
it was for the 800 tires and they were folded or wrinkled in the 600
tires. Upon removal I found the tube cracked at the wrinkle.

OTOH for about cdn$10. at Wally Mart, one can afford to keep a spare I
guess.

There are tire and tube discussions in the archives as well.

Ken

Hi Ken

Are you kidding about WalMart? I never thought of going there for that. I
also had trouble sourcing those tubes with the bent stems. Thanks for the
thought.

Brian, also you local Goodyear dealer, or tire shop. That is were I go to
get new tubes/tires for the amphibs Cheng Chin tires (fronts and mains),
UTVA tail wheel tubes, etc. The tubes they stock just about all have the 90*
stems.

Absolutely.
I can't seem to find the size but it was listed oddly on the package,
possibly as a 15 cm. tube which would cross to 6". (2.54 cm to the
inch)

Wayne G. O'Shea

tire tubes

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:02 pm

Brian, I did have it in the back of my mind to jump in one of the Rebels and
make the meeting for 1 PM. I had started cleaning some bird nests out of the
two UTVA's GSO-480 engines at 9 am, figuring I would get that done and then
head down to Brampton in the Amphib. Unfortunately I spent 6 hours sitting
on a ladder, with a vacuum cleaner and a small hooked wire, pulling all the
twigs etc up out of the cooling fins and I have the bright red back to prove
it! (should have listened to Leah and put my shirt back on earlier!). Next
time I think I will just have a controlled burn fire, to get the stuff out
of there!

Maybe next meeting I can make it, to sell some parts and shoot the --it. I
still haven't seen you aircraft either!!!

Take care,
Wayne G. O'Shea
