Doors & Oshkosh

Post by Bob Patterson » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:56 pm

Hi Alister !

It'll be great to finally meet up !! Don't forget the GREAT
Murphy dinner on Saturday night at the university - this is a swell
feed !!!! (and, of course, the <free> International Party on Friday
night !) Catch us at the Murphy booth ....

We'll definitely be flying one of our Rebels down. If it's
not sold by then, we might fly old Number 001 - the theme this year
is "Aviation Firsts", so that would fit !!

If it is sold, we'll bring #230 instead. (Anybody know of
somebody who'd give #001 a good home ?? - only $39,000 CAD !)

See you there !

Well then!
It sounds like I'm not on my own with the door leak!!

If you fitted a latch to the front it would have to be able to be accessed
from the outside for emergency exit or possibly use a detent ball type
latch, I guess.

Well, I just paid my airfares to Oshkosh so I might be able to catch up with
one or two of you over there, will there be a few Rebels there?

Cheers

Alister

Hi Alister !

We've definitely had to do something about the front of the
window here - winter gets cold !!

The easy solution is just to run a strip or 2 of window insulating
foam tape up the front (the self-adhesive stuff). This fills the gap,
and provides a bit of friction to slow the opening.

Another solution is to position the window latch a few inches
further forward than the manual calls for, and/or twist the window frame
slightly inward before attaching the Lexan.

Some more ambitious souls have added a small latch at the front,
and this <does> fix the problem.
