It Runs!

Post by Jerry Folkerts » Sat Dec 16, 2017 5:52 pm

Today, a friend helped me to prime the engine, then attempt our first engine run. After 7 years of work, it's an incredible feeling to flip the switch and have everything work as it is supposed to. The engine started right away, and we idled it for 3 min. We repeated the same profile a bit later. I'm on a strict protocol for my chrome cylinders, but so far no problems. I have one small fuel leak at a primer fitting -- easily corrected. Our local DAR is scheduled to come out Tuesday afternoon. I don't expect much as he's been watching the build all along. First flight sometime after the first of the year?
