Hello Folks
Has anyone building a tri-gear (Elite or SR) installed the MAM supplied landing
light kit? Did you change the angle it is mounted to accomodate the different
ground attitude of the tri-gear?
We are about to do the mounting and other than making the guess that until flare
the light needs to be oriented the same (one of the 2 lamps) but in touchdown &
taxi things will be different. Perhaps there is enough adjustment in the lamp
holders that it doesn't matter?
All MAM was able to suggest was that the lights will have to be aimed
differently since it is a tri-gear. They had no info on installation of the kit
except to state that it was designed to fit the taildragger Rebel (since at that
time no tri-gears were available)...........................
Your suggestions?
Thanks
Dave R.

Hal Edmonson is building an SR for tri-gear, and at present he is mounting
his landing lights (Trevor Yaworski originals).
He plans to move the top flange back about 1 1/2".
He's not in the newsgroup, but you can get ahold of him at 905-623-7488.

Landing Light Installation in a Tri-Gear
Rick
Thanks for the lead.
Moving the top flange back that far seems like a lot doesn't it? FWIW, I
haven't cut metal on this yet but I am toying with leaving it where the
instructions call for and using the built in adjustment, can anyone comment on
how much adjustment is left (to account for the Tri-Gear attitude vs tailwheel)
when the lights are set up for a taildragger?
Thanks

Hi Dave !
You are likely OK to just follow the instructions. There's
lots of adjustment there. We had the same situation going from
taildragger to amphibs - no problem.

Landing Light Installation in a Tri-Gear
Thanks Bob, that was exactly the sort of answer I was hoping for and in fact your
situation proves that it should be just fine for the Elite on (3) wheels. This is
because on your amphib Rebel you would have to adjust the lamps (for taxi) at a sharper
angle down toward the ground since is sits higher on the floats than the tri-gear Elite
on wheels.
