YAAAAHHOOOOOOOOOO !!!
After 5 years of building......no social life, ......bugger all TV ...and finishing off
the already strained fiscal deposits....
our REBEL (aeroplane, for those who have short term memory problems)
flew today at Hoxton Park Aerodrome in Sydney !!!!!
The first "takeoff" was a bit of an accident.....I only meant to "fly the tail"...which
I did. . . . .....but I put the tail back down too early...and it just launched
itself ! :-) (we were only doing high speed taxiing tests you see).
The next four departures from terra firma were intended....
The runway is 1100 metres...but being a bit cautious, I wasn't game to push my
ability (or luck) and only used about half of it...I wanted lots of room to get back down
and stop with room to spare.
We probably got to about 50 feet on a couple of the "hops"...and the landings were
quite livable...(well, I'm here typing this e-mail aren't I )
Wendy caught them ALL on a borrowed video (thanks Brett !), so those who live locally will get to see them all...(whether you WANT to or not ! :-)..just kidding .
The engine is jetted a bit on the lean side I think (it surges under acceleration...
a problem I will fix tomorrow when I go out to the hangar and reset the needle
position a bit richer).
Don't have any stills of the Rebel in flight...but I've attached one of it , just before
the first "flight "... (if I find a way to capture a frame from the video, we'll send a flying pic' off to you all).....(got ant suggestions Brett ?)
Hope you are all doin' well
Yours ECSTATICALLY
Rick & Wendy (Harper)....(for the short term memory loss ones)
Do you want this big green box to go away? Well here's how...

Congratulations you two!!! You won't have any social life, tv or financial deposits afterwards either, as you will be too busy flying it and filling the fuel tanks of your new FUN machine!!!! Just don't get as carried away as I have and make it a FULL time adventure building more of them, as my FUN flying time is suffering immensely!

Wayne G. O'Shea
