Hello,
I do not plan on putting my rebel on floats and am wondering if anyone is
using the Sensinich 74"dia x 58" pitch. What is it's performance verses
the 56" pitch that Wayne has used on some float planes. Will the 56"
give 100 knot cruise? Will the 58" turn enough revs for 1200 foot grass
strip takeoffs?
Any and all comments will be appreciated.
I have a 2" prop spacer by warp drive and a 12" UMA spinner for sale
both parts are unused the spinner was precut by UMA for the warp drive 3
blade configuration. If anyone is interested just contact me offline at
rsdec1@star.net so we don't clog up the pipe here.

Rick, just to clarify.
Bob P's Rebel, on wheels, with 150 H.P. O-320-E2D is running a Sensenich
74DM x 56 pitch It gets a good 105 knot cruise (dirty with no gear leg
fairings, etc) Takes off in about 200 feet (at around 1375 pounds)! Will not
readline in cruise at full power, but just about makes it there, so prop is
pitched course enough.
Howard's on Amphibs with the same engine and a 74DM x 52 pitch works okay
according to Howard, and does not readline on climbout. I presume it
readlines in full power cruise, but I can't ever get a straight answer out
of Howard. He cruises apparently about 2 M.P.H. slower that Jack Weibe and
Les McGinnus with their 160 H.P. / Warp Drive pulled amphib Rebels and got a
little behind them coming home from Oshkosh last year. Howard's amphib does
get off in a hurry with this prop though. He goes up my 2000 foot runways 2%
grade ON GRASS and over the 90 foot trees at the end, with about 200 feet of
clearance. That is a total climb of about 330 feet in 2000 feet with FULL
Tanks and himself on board! It ain't no dog!
Do you mean a 12" UHS spinner??

to abandon the Warp Drive prop and go with the Sensenich. It seems like
the 74DM x 56 pitch is the way to go, 58 pitch is probably too much for
some of the short fiels that I frequent. The factory mentions the 56 for
climb and the 58 for cruise.
Other airframe info = firewall back 3", spring gear
Yes, the spinner is a 12" UHS. I just can't get those new UMA
1 1/4" gauges out of my head. I saw them at sun n' fun and they are beautiful but pricey.
Also the 2" spacer is for an SAE II pattern with 7/16" dia bolts.

Rick, If you want cruise (vs climb) you probably <could> go with the -58! If
it turned out to be too course any good prop shop can make it finer for
about $250 Cdn. The same goes for the -56, if it's too fine have it twisted
courser! Flip a coin and pick one or the other! Is your engine 150 H.P or do
I remember yours being 160, thus you would need the courser prop for sure.

150 HP lycoming O-320-E2D with an SAE II flange. It was purchased
through Warp Drive and is made by Saber Mfg. Selling for $200.00 +

150 HP lycoming O-320-E2D with an SAE II flange. It was purchased
through Warp Drive and is made by Saber Mfg. Selling for $200.00 +
shipping. It is brand new.

Both Sensenich wood and metal prop shops said the metal blade out performs
the wood blade by 2 or 3%. The metal prop has a smaller cord and is a more
efficient airfoil. I think 3% is not a bad tradeoff for 30 lb. difference in
useful load, not to mention what it does to the C of G. The question becomes
will it out perform a WD?

blade factory cutout for a warp drive prop and the 2" spacer will be
available. Both parts are for a Lycoming O-320 with an SAE II flange and
7/16 dia bolts. Call me or e-mail me directly if you are interested in
