Hi Everybody, some time ago I advised the archives of the fatal accident of
a Murphy Rebel in Holland.
I tried to get some info earlier but to no avail. My most recent attempt to
get some info was replied to very promptly by a Dutch investigator on their
accident board.
He pointed out that all research is confidential and that they had not yet
completed their investigation. However, until this point in their research,
no indications were found that technical problems with the airframe or its
engine had caused the accident.
Well, that is something I suppose and let's hope that they don't change
their mind.

Totally unrelated but of some interest, France has prohibited building of
all kits. Or to put it another way, you can build it, but you won't get to
fly it. Yes, you are reading it correctly. There is one exception and that
is a puny ultra-light kit put out by their ROBIN. This measure was allegedly
taken because of "complaints" by the light aircraft manufacturers in France,
that they were loosing too much business. In other words "you either cough
up $ 250,000 or $ 300,000 or you don't fly". Nobody knows what is going to
happen to kits now partially completed. I understand they are to request an
exemption to this new no-more-kits-rule. Only in Europe can these so-called
democratic governments act so arrogantly towards their own citizens. Holland
is another example although not yet in the aviation area. Every day there
seems to be another attempt to restrict citizens rights or hit them with
another tax.

Whadya expect from the French !

Their arrogance is WELL known....in many diverse
areas........HELL,...they won't
even recognise "new" words" as they appear in other languages because
"they
didn't think of them" !?!?!....no wonder it's called a dying language.

the French would do well to remember WWII and lose some of that false pride. they are lucky they still have a language. they could be speaking German now!

What's sad is how many aviation advances came out of France.
Guess that's now about as alive and evolving as the French
language.

What's scary is how most governments dislike individual freedoms
and private aviation is always high on the 'kill' list. Ask most
European private pilots about their 'privitized' airspace. Do you
Canadians feel your flying environment is now improving?

And don't even talk about McCain...

What's scary is how most governments dislike individual freedoms
and private aviation is always high on the 'kill' list. Ask most
European private pilots about their 'privitized' airspace. Do you
Canadians feel your flying environment is now improving?

Actually David I do feel our flying enviroment is improving. It's happening
slowly and there are setbacks and annoyances like landing fees and the nav
canada $58 fee for using their sevices wether you fly or not. However
mostly thanks to the hard lobbying of the people at COPA we now have
advanced ultralights, recreational pilot permits, owner maintenance of some
factory built aircraft and soon ultralight pilots may be able to apply for
passenger carrying privilages. The RAA has brought in the AIR-ABA program
that lets our homebuilts be inspected by trained volunteers at a reasonable
price and in a timely manner. I think the future is bright transport canada
recognises the importance of general aviation and is willing to accomodate us.
