Brake Fluid, three questions

Post by mikeh » Thu Mar 08, 2012 12:29 am

Hi all,
I see that MAM recommend automatic transmission fluid for brake fluid.
Has anyone had problems with this?
Is there a particular auto trans fluid to use? Or is Dexron 3 the go?
Thanks for all replies.
Cheers Mike 818R in OZ........only two more electrical things to connect.....I hope.

I have been using Dexron 3 synthetic with no problems. After a couple of years the fluid exposed to the sun in the clear lines becomes clear. I used Wayne's suggestion of filling lines from the bottom up with an oil squirt can, and that worked great for getting air out of the line.

Definitely ! Use ATF ... only problems have occurred when people used 'aircraft' or automotive
brake fluid - it ATE THE RUBBER in the cylinders !!

Any good ATF will do, Deltron/Dextron ?? is fine !
