To All,
Can anyone tell me if Vans RV6 exhaust will fit under the Elite cowling without modification?

Any one know if a crossover exhaust for a Glasair fits in the fiberglass cowl
for the Rebel?

Phil and Bruce, I'm sure the RV exhaust will fit the MAM speed cowling as
MAM is not longer making their own and instead supplying (beautiful)
exhausts built by Forester or Fosslington (some darn name that starts with
F) that builds the exhausts for the RV's. They have exhaust stubs that have
slip pegs to lock them to the pipes, but still allow for
expansion/contraction and a ball joint to allow pointing the exhaust outlets
in the right direction. The Glasair exhaust probably works fine too, as it
is a closely cowled aircraft also.

I TRIED THE RV-6 EXHAUST ON MY REBEL AND FOUND THAT MY ENGINE IS MOUNTED
CLOSER TO THE FIREWALL THAN THAT OF AN RV. tHEREFORE, IT WOULD NOT CLEAR THE
BOTTOM OF THE FIREWALL.

Hi Phil !

I don't believe that it will. The stainless exhaust that
Murphy sells is made by the same company, and i think a couple of
measurements were changed. (position of the ball joints, length of
tubes ...)

Sorry that I provided misleading information, if what Bob says below is
true!!! I had been told the Exhaust being supplied was the same as either
the RV-4 or RV-6's (maybe they just meant the same guy that builds the RV
stuff). I'm sure though, if you already have the exhaust for the other
"breed", with a cutter and pipe expander to put it back together you can
make it fit to save the Thousand $'s.

Bill,

Did your RV6 exhaust have the ball joints at the tail pipes to adjust them
down to clear the firewall?
