The 8 Dec. issue of EAA e-hotline has a comment that the electronic ignitions (such as LightSpeed) will fire when the prop is turned in either direction. There is additional information that many wiring schemes for the electronic ignitions bring power direct from a battery leaving the ignition "hot" and able to start the engine with the master "off".
Most of us are familiar with impulse coupler magneto ignitions that allow an engine to be turned backward for propellor positioning or maintenance. These engines can safely be reversed. Relying on this old information could lead to a disaster. Be careful!
