Drew,
I just got a qoute from Clamar. Are you sitting down? ..........$27,000CN
!!!! Ouch! That is what I paid for the S-7 (well almost what I paid). Just
a little on the expensive side thats for sure. Not sure how many they will
sell at that price. I suspect they are a great float but this guy sure
won't be finding out.
I agree on the Murphy floats being the first choice. I have corresponded
with a gentleman there in Canada (Peter Cowan) that is the guru on Rans
and his site lists the Murphy as a great choice.
Thank you,
Keith

Opps I forgot about the LSA floats even though I was with Clair when he
was at Oshkosh negotiating with the guys that were going to buy dozens of
sets ( I don't know how that turned out) If MAM could deliver a 1500 kit
that would be my first choice but if you want to be on floats next summer
go with the clamars.

Hi Keith The early clamar floats were heavy but I think he has the weight
down quite a bit by using carbon, kevlar and vacuum bagging his lay ups.
They are really good quality but fairly pricey as well. Also I think the
smallest model is about 2100 super cub size.

Well everyone, I had a lapse in judgement and recently purchased a RANS
S-7. This particular plane has been sitting in the same hangar as I kept
my Champ when I had it on floats. ThisRotax 912 powered S-7 with 144 hrs.
TT has been sitting for 11+ years without being flown. A group of fellow
EEAer's and I got it all cleaned up and it started right up. I took it for
its first flight in 11 years. Little bugger is a rocket ship compared to
my Champ and 172. Needless to say I was impressed. The engine has an Extra
Performance upgrade kit that supposedly makes it into a 95 HP Rotax.
Okay, now the question.....I have found a set of Full Lotus 1260 floats
with amphib gear for a reasonable price, but personally think they may be
a little small. I have also been looking at the Clamar floats and remember
they were discussed on here awhile back. Anyone have anything good or bad
to comment on Clamar's floats? I think I remember Wayne or someone saying
they were heavy.
Still debating what I want to do with my Rebel's. Can't quite get myself
talked into selling them as I still think the Rebel is one of the best
planes out there that will fill my mission. In the meantime this little
S-7 has stolen my heart.
