This is what I am doing on SR-108, several others have also. The cables
stay under the floor, pulleys are slightly re-located. The last bay before
the Horizontal Stab is ware all the cables transition up ward at around 30*
to 45*.
This gives the "Mechanic" a lot better access to things located in the
empennage. In another life I cursed every time that I had to crawl back
into the empennage of any plane to effect repairs or inspections.
The "Pilot" can benefit also with more "on the ground storage" such as when
camping. I figure it would make a "cozy" place for two sleeping bags, or in
my case one!
It was not that hard to modify things with no sacrifice in the integrity of
the structure. Some photos available on the web site of others project, or
I can dig a few up.

floor back, one has to put pulleys in for the eventual rudder/elevator cable
rise as otherwise the angle will be too steep for simply using fairleads as
per a standard design.
