[rebel-builders] Rebel Gas Cap

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:34 pm

I have acquired the original source for them.... and have a request for
quote and minimum quantities in to the company that makes them.

If anyone is temporarily stuck... the old red rib topped Cessna Cap..
C156003 (made by CAP INC - Wichita Kansas) will work on the MAM flanged
filler neck.

When I wanted to get a couple caps for spares, the only ones I could find

Thanks guys, well I guess I won't have to steal anyone's caps off their plane after all. It looks like there are several options. Let us know when you find out Wayne. I looked at the ACS ones o the website, and I understand now. I always forget they have better pictures online than in the catalog.

[rebel-builders] Rebel Gas Cap

Post by Curtis Langholz » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:34 pm

The filler neck looks the same size as the one on my Cessna 120. I got STC'd replacement ones from Monarch. Might be worth a fit check on a 120/140 if you have one at your airport.

Oh man, don't leave your planes out of sight guys...Rebel fuel caps are going to become a hot commodity. I knew I should have riveted my filler neck flanges to the outside of the tank skins. Now when I lose a fuel cap I'm going to have to open the tank just to put on a different filler neck/cap combo. That's what vanity will get you.
Seriously though, there must be a replacement out there somewhere. If not from mam then hopefully they would divulge the supplier. It looks like a generic part...probably not aviation.

the same web page) and it didn't fit.

[rebel-builders] Rebel Gas Cap

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:34 pm

Just waiting to clarify a few things with the company.. but of course there
is a minimum order of at least a few hundred dollars.

How many people are interested in caps.. and how many do you want.... and
how many flanged filler necks? If I can get a rough count I will decide
whether to proceed or not with this.

Vented caps, in Stainless steel (orig are plain steel.. and I can get those
as well), are looking like about $18 each and the filler flange/neck.. $8
each

Anyone going to floats... you do NOT want flush caps, as you'll fall off the
top step into the lake trying to fuel if you don' t have that filler neck to
grab a hold of !

[rebel-builders] Rebel Gas Cap

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:34 pm

It's not about wasting time Andrew.. there are many of the newer kits
(Rebel/Elite and SR) that went out the Murphy door with flush seadog
caps/fillers. Some of those guys might want to get the proper neck and cap
for a much better application... and an important hand hold as far as I'm
concerned for float equipped filling safety.

I'm just offering to be the distribution source, considering the few hundred
dollar minimum to get an order out of the manufacturer. My only gain is I
could use a few spare caps around here as well.
