Below is a comment I made 8/24/2010 during the last time this subject
came up.
Ken

"I dug up a MAM diagram for the 0-235 and I believe it is the same mount
for the 0-320. It shows one degree of right offset and zero down thrust.

However you might check to see if I put anything in the archives (as I
often do) about 8 years ago. Reason is because I measured a conical
mount and my less than perfect memory recalls 1 or 2 degrees of right
offset and 1 or 2 degrees of downthrust. I can't find anything
definitive in my notes. For low power cruise with the soob and wing
cuff, the down thrust and offset was a good thing to put in my mount
from what I've seen. However I would not hesitate to use 1 or 2 offset
and zero downthrust if I was building an 0-320 mount."

Hi All,

I am getting ready to have an engine mount built for my 6-cyl Corvair
engine.
It'll produce about 120hp, and weigh a bit less than an O-200 installed.
Virtually all Corvair mounts are bed mounts, and I've decided to have
William
Wynne (of flycorvair.com) weld it up for me. He has welded Corvair
mounts
for a number of othe aircraft, and I am looking for reference materials
to
provide to him: schematics (if possible), thrust lines, distances from
firewall
for CG, etc...

I am hoping someone has a schematic of a Rebel with an O-235 engine
install
(or even an O-320) to get a sense of the required dimensions.

Can anyone tell me if these documents exist?

Thanks in advance,
Rob

I'd use them to your advantage Dave.. spray some tube seal in there to
stop
any rust action and a dab of sealer to close them off. Can't weld them now
that you're powder coated.

Hi Simon

That's about what I figured and I'm surprised that they were left open.
Perhaps that's a comment on process control?

From your experience is closing them a "must do"?

Cheers,

Dave

Dick

I'm a bit confused by your description of the 4 cyl mount. I have just
received a mount (and a cowling, maybe more about that later) from MAM
for the Elite project, on the invoice it's listed as a Dynafocal mount
not Conical as I read your message to say. Am I understanding your
what
your wrote correctly?

Now, a question of my own, the mount we just received has a small
(about
1/16 - 1/8" dia) hole/gap in the weld between the support tubing and
the
ring which accepts the lord mount. The hole looks to be intentional as
it is there on all 4 rings, any thoughts as to the reason? FWIW, The
mount is powder coated.

Cheers,

Dave

PS. After ordering a cowling, engine mount and window rings in January
2010, they arrived this week.
