Hi Ken. The Jabiru 3300 is working fine. With 54 hrs. on it now, I'm still
very pleased with the engine and its performance, as previously reported. I
have found the Sensenich 68x38 is arguably just a smidge too finely pitched,
but it's a close enough call that I'm not going to bother to change anything
until I need to and in the meantime, it climbs great.

The plane is down at the moment as I'm in the process of changing from the
Sonex AeroCarb to the Rotec TBI-40S carb. They're both throttle bodies, of
course, but as you probably know, the TBI is a little more advanced, with a
perforated rotating tube for mixture control (like the Ellison) and a nifty
upstream fuel regulator, etc. The AeroCarb worked fine, especially after I
modified the needle shape a bit, as others have done for the Jabiru, but in
my particular FWF layout there was no other way to run the throttle cable
except via a 6 ft. long, serpentine, corkscrew route that added a lot of
friction and was [Ed. understatement alert] not good. In addition to its
other virtues, the TBI will install with only half the length of throttle
cable and just one 90 deg. turn. I'll be making up the new flex fuel line
for it today.

While the plane has been down for the carb swap, I also sent the EFIS's and
A/P in for updates/upgrades, and have been tackling a bunch of other little
tasks that have stacked up. Should be flying again within the week, but will
probably be down again in Jan-Feb for disassembly to paint.
