If you have enough hp to cruise at 100+ mph, you should have no trouble
utilizing full reflex. On mine, I can slow down to 90 mph before I have to
reduce reflex. Otherwise the nose starts to rise (behind the curve) and you
lose your efficiency. I can cruise as slow as 80 with some reflex, below
that I need to have neutral reflex. This is with amphibs, so with less
weight you should be able to achieve lower speeds with reflex.
Reflex has a couple advantages, for sure more speed (around 10 mph), but
also your bank roll will be more snappy. And less fuel burn with the lower
drag in reflex. I think reflex is better in rough air, too, although I still
slow right down to be on the safe side.

Mike
I hope the drawings help. I don't have the answer to your question about the
second reflex position. When I talked to Bob P. about rigging the controls
some time back there was some doubt in my case that I would have enough HP
(118) to cruse in the second reflex position. Must create a lot of drag.
I am just about to make the final installation of the firewall. I wanted to
complete the wiring of the instrument panel and the brake lines and cut all
the big holes in the firewall while they were easy to reach.
Oshkosh was really muddy but we had good weather while we were there. Spent
a lot of money and was glad to get home.

Hi again,
Thank you all for that, the variables are being reduced. And, yes, I
like the idea of a variable Xmas too. Cheers Mike
