Engine mount, now exhaust

Post by Gary Wolf » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:23 pm

I would save the cost of the C/S and spend it on a Powerflow exhaust. Unlike
most exhausts that claim to be "tuned" the Powerflow actually has the
correct lengths and diameters. My pal put one on his 160 hp C-172 on floats
to improve his takeoffs and found that he was able to have the prop
repitched a bit steeper. He still got the shorter takeoffs and was able to
cruise at a lower throttle setting.

With the power of a decent o-320 I'd rather save the weight on the nose
than take a second off the takeoff performance. THe Rebel is not the
high speed cruiser that can gain a huge amount from a C/S prop.
