[rebel-builders] rivet mandrels

Sounds like a "great" batch of "Rivets Unlimited's" rivets! Set them aside
and only use them for interior channels and such. Order a new box from
Mattic Industries.

MAM exchanged them at one point in time....

I have been doing a little work on my kit. I have found that about half of
the rivets leave a little sharp edge of the mandrel sticking out. Is this
common, or if not what can I do to stop it? Should I try turning the air
down so it pulls slower? or up to really pull them fast?

[rebel-builders] rivet mandrels

I had this problem with countersunk rivets until I started taking extra
special care to keep the rivet gun very square to the material. It was too
easy to lose focus on that. You're probably already on top of that but it
might be worth a try.

Do any of you know of any super rebel that successfully used the nose gear
package. I have been told that they did not perform well as say a 182 etc.

[rebel-builders] rivet mandrels

Post by Aero Propulsion Technolog » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:23 pm

Hi, Kevin,
To correct this situation I use a smaller rivet nose diameter and redrill it
to a more appropriate size than with a dremel 1/4"diameter ball cutter and
machine a cupform on it.
I hope it help.
Daniel
