[rebel-builders] Window gas strut

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:58 pm

Craig, it was just an off the shelf strut for a truck lid or similar... but
unfortunately for me I can't get the same model/length/end fitting
configuration anymore to replace mine. Mine are getting very weak and you
have to watch not to bump your head on the drooping window... and no I don't
use the stock latch for the window.

[quote]That is sweet! Wayne, where did you get the gas strut you used on your
doors? And did you use the stock latch mechanism? Thanks for the
inspiration! Craig

Here's some stuff to get you drilling and riveting... from September
2009...
finally got my buddy's SD card. All of these videos are me (220lbs), my
buddy (235lbs), 20 to 30 gallons of fuel and the 12' Sportspal on the
side.

Counting in the head.. a thousand and one.. a thousand and two.. the take
offs all seem to be 12 to 16 seconds that we always state around here.....
but the timer tells no lies in the videos.. generally 25 seconds in this
configuration.. no wind.. glassy water.

Take off from my bay at camp

Start up after pulling anchor.. before the breeze puts us in the trees.

Curving take off to use available lake

Shot of Diamond Lake, Temagami

Tailwind at the last minute.. not the best landing! lol

10 minutes of sight seeing and a perfect landing.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the tip. I would be interested in seeing how you rigged your
doors and also what latch mechanism you used and if you're satisfied with
it. Photos are greatly appreciated. You can email direct if you like.
snowyrvr@mtaonline.net Thanks, Craig
