[rebel-builders] Front Spar

Post by Jeff Micheal » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:45 pm

Hi Ron,

What I read is quite clear.......... It's not a "warning", but it does make
a special "note" of spar (W-117) position........... W119 is the Front Spar
Fitting.

*10.7 Front Spar*

2) Lay out a Front Spar (W-117) as in Figure 10.7.1.

I can email you the chapter on this directly if you like. Like many things
in this build manual, the "details" can be easily overlooked.

Cheers,
Jeff

PS: Hopefully you can still use your front spar.

To all those who are building the wing,

The front spar for the left and right wing is the same part number (W119),
but is not a symetrical part ie.you can not turn it over and use it with the
root end for the front spar fitting attach holes at the root end of both
wings. There is a top and a bottom to the spar ( the bends on the top and
the bottom are different) . There is no warning in the plans about this .

It's been a while but I believe my manual (1993) noted the difference
between the two sides by noting that they both have different angles. Maybe
that info didn't make the latter manuals. Craig

Can't remember for sure but for some reason I keep thinking they were
interchangeable by switching which end is the root end and redrilling.

Yes you have to redrill the root. I did not notice this and had to rebend the angles. Had a hard time finding a 12 ft brake.

Sounds like you have it figured out now Ron and were able to use your front
spar. Good for you.
