[rebel-builders] Windshield trimming.
[rebel-builders] Windshield trimming.
For the life of me I can't remember any drama or what I did when building
mine. I do remember that the item was drop shipped from a well know supplier
of aircraft windshields, so I would think they are still available in the
States if needed.

We are just starting to trim the windshield on our Elite. Since we are
not likely to be able to get a replacement I thought that I should ask
everyone who has installed one what things to look out for and what you
would recommend before I screw up.
Anyone?

Windshield are proprietary to MAM, LP makes them (but won't sell you one).

Yep. I just recieved mine a couple of months ago and it came from a well know supplier of windshields. I wouldn't worry too much since I would think they have the mold and could get you another one if needed.

I used dremel to cut it and sand it, builds up some plastic as it melts

[rebel-builders] Windshield trimming.
Don't drill any holes in the windshield.
Bed it in butyl compound usually an auto glass installer may sell you what
you need for $20ish.
If you use too much it will show beyond your trim strips when it squishes as
pull the rivets.
Then mask and finish bead with a thin strip of Pro-seal.
All this is per Wayne
