metal, wood, or composite prop

Post by Karen McCaffery » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:29 pm

We are finishing up Rebel kit #719R and installing a Lyc. 0-235. I was warned that a lightweight prop like wood or composite causes a flat spot at 1500-1700 RPM. The reason given was the lighter weight prop does not provide enough flywheel effect to move the engine through this rpm range smoothly. Can anyone shed any light on this subject? Thanks in advance, Cris
