[rebel-builders] windshield rubber

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:21 pm

Jason,

I'm about to start this as well. I got ACS p/n 05-00951 for this purpose.

What may be even more helpful is that I spent several hours going through
the archives for info on windshield installation just a couple days ago. I
copied and pasted things I thought were significant to a text file, which is
available on my web site, at http://n254mr.com/node/860 I've been meaning
to edit it, and will, but thought I should get it up now, for those who may
be reading this thread. It's userful now, and I'll try to clean it up and/or
organize it a little in the next couple of days.

My compilation from the archives on this topic is by no means a complete
description of everything. People use different names for the same thing,
and opinions vary. Read the whole thing before settling on any one course of
action. I hope it helps a little, or at least saves some time poring over
the archives.

Mounting the windshield calls for a" 4511 rubber bumper" for the

what it would look like.I'm assuming a channel that would cover the
bottom edge ?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Looking at my inventory, I see I also got some of p/n 05-00597. It's a
smidge taller than the other. Not sure which I'll actually use when I get
there, probably 'round the end of this month.

The rubber channels available from ACS are on the top of p. 127 of the
current '08-'09 catalog.

[rebel-builders] windshield rubber

Hi Jason !

It's a squarish rubber channel that fits over the bottom
of the windshield - about 1/4"+ deep. The thicker & deeper,
the better .... That, and the Bostick 1100, will keep the
windshield from moving around too much, but let it
grow with heat & shrink with cold ....

It's good to have the rubber on - it cushions the
plexi a bit ...

thanks all for the reply's.I got'er figered now. A couple other
tidbits I need are,a source for a thin rubber channel for on the edges
of the fairings, tail wing etc.A spruce doesn"t seem to have anything
that small. Also I have two part #"s for engine mounts Barry#94150-40
or Lord J-9613-49.Not sure if they are the same or what? Its for a
dynofocal 0-320.If anyone knew which one would be the one I would
appreciate the feedback. One more thing.Does anyone know of a wrecked
rebel or Elite being parted out in ontario.Need the backs for my seats
and main landing gear.
Thanks again appreciate the info

Hi Jason !

The best source I've found for all kinds of rubber channel, plus
many other bit, like door latches ... is Spaenaur, in Kitchener.
They have a HUGE catalogue ! You'll likely have to buy a fair
quantity, but you will use it eventually - there are lots of places !
http://www.spaenaur.com/

One unfortunate thing is that their web site can only be used
by those who suffer with WinDoze - the poor folk don't realize
they are losing business from the rest of the world .... we moved
to Linux long ago !
